HOW DO YOU MAKE LOTUS NOTES WORK WITH OUTLOOK SO YOU DONT HAVE TO EXIT MS-OFFICE APPLICATIONS TO SEND DOCS ?
Right-click your Internet Explorer icon and choose properties (or Tools: Internet Options when you have IE open). On the Programs Tab set the default e-mail program to be Lotus Notes. Then when you are in Word and want to send the file it will bringup a new memo in Lotus Notes.

Why include Outlook? Use Send To in Office: In Lotus Notes, go to Files\Preferences\User Preferences.Under "Basics" you'll find "Additional Options". Enable the option "Enable MS Office 97 SendTo to Notes". If you then use Files\Send To in any Office-program this will open Lotus with a new mail including your document as an attachment. But be aware: Any unsaved changes in your document will also be included in your attachment.

Good Luck!

Here's one I'll never understand - I have users that insist on storing mail they want to keep in the Trash Folder! How nuts is that!

We had a user one time that called to complain that the tech that had fixed the PC at her workstation had emptied the Recycle Bin.
"It had all of my documents in there! How am I supposed to do my work?" Our reply was: "Please do not store your documents in the Recycle Bin. Your network drive would be a much better choice."

That reply went in one ear and out the other. She proceeded to call the head of Tech Support. Tech Support Honco went to her desk, listened to her explaination of the issue. After hearing her out, the Tech Support Honcho took a stack of files off her desk and threw them in the trash can. Astonished, she asked him why. Tech Support Honcho's reply: "Ain't no difference. Just wait and see if the cleaning crew throws them away or not."

Fair Warning
jbaker@... 16th Jul 2003
The first thing I always tell users in my division is that I always empty recycle bins, temp folders and deleted items folders whenever I have to work on one of their machines. I repeat this warning every time one of them calls to bring a machine in or I go to the site to work on it. If they have something in one of those folders, it will be gone. I tell them that the icon for recycle is a trash can for a reason and temp means just that. After two years of repeating this all but one engineer has gotten the message!

Liz, We have the same problem. I have one user that is an exec and she has her assistant put mail in the trash and not delete it until she can go through it. Crazy!

Archiving your Lotus Notes emails to your C drive will save space on the Domino server where your Lotus Notes database is located.

--joyce--
Archiving emails as a solution to storing emails is great, but when that database has become sooo large, I have had to burn the entire file to CDRW media in order to create another storage solution. Have Fun!!

yeah, well, our Mother Company has a rule that mailboxes should be limited to 50 megs (and they set quotas, too), so our Head Diskspace Consumer was in for a shock when his on-server box shrunk from the 1.2 GB he used to have to the 50 MB he's allowed...
But then, there's a problem when migrating to a new machine - you have to transfer the .nsf, and with 1+ GB this requires zipping and spanning to have it fit on a CD, or else clogging up the LAN's bandwidth for a looooooong time when the file is moved. No perfect solution here...
I think the "Remove from folder" option in Lotus Notes message view is ridiculous. It is positioned directly under "Move to Folder" tab, so that one slight slip of hand and mouse will cause an important memo you are wanting to move to a folder to be saved, to be permanently deleted without any confirmation message.

What is the deal with this?
How immensely frustrating!
