Laptop Could Mean Time Away From Office: I can see your point that if you own a laptop, you will be expected to take work home. But for me a laptop means that I can take my work anywhere and I am not hindered by having to work at the office. As a mother of 4 children, I took this job because I could be flexible with my hours. I could leave early as long as the job was done. With a laptop, I can go to gymnastics practice with my child and spend the 2 hours working at the gym, instead of idlewaiting. A laptop allows the ballpark to be the office, if I need it to be. Obviously, I don't want to get carried away with this, but there have been many times that in order to accomplish everything for my family and meet the deadline for work, I had to use that time I usually spend waiting for my child to be done; finishing the spreadsheet or the report. At the end of the day I was way ahead, because the flexibility allowed me to use time, that I normally had not been able to use. I thengot a good night's sleep instead of trying to catch up with the work required.
