Very helpful

We need more examples like this in Access and Excel. The only way users are able to train themselves is by practice. This example is a very helpful geting them started.

your site and the items posted are very useful and helpful to non-programmers and beginners.

excel tips are really useful to anybody working on spreadsheets.

can you also post some thing like this on visual basic 6, i meant a sample project from scratch.

with that one can go forward and progress in programming with visual basic 6.

thanks

I was in a meeting where my business partner off handedly mentioned that he dropped the data into a pivot table and found the error. Well needless to say that sent me scrambling to find out what he was talking about before my ignorance surfaced. Your presentation was clear concise and very easy to follow and relay to the rest of my project team. Thanx for another tool!

I have a chart based on a crosstab query. It previews and prints the same number of pages as the row heading data result set (11 line items does 11 pages), but all pages are identical. Help?!

I built +200 pivot tables from MS-SQL 7.0. For the first PT I worked 2 days long, now I take only 10 minutes. A good SQL query is the best key for good PTs. PTs are much more flexible than data warehousing systems.

Having read the official MS description of pivot tables for Excel and gotten totally lost I found this an exceptionally useful and pleasantly easy lesson to follow. I now have a beter understanding of pivot tables and will go on to use them in anger. Thank you.
I have created a lot different pivot table in Access ver 2003, but until now I still can put a title/header on it. Do you how can I put a header/title on pivot table in Access?

Sweet and Simple. Easy to understand and good illustration of the steps. Keep it up.
None of the graphics show up in your Pivot Table article. I am using IE5. The page leaves room for them, but never displays them. We are on a high speed connection, so I don't think download times are the answer.
Without the graphics, the tutorial is not of much use.

The images show up fine for me. It could be your browser set to not display images.
Good Job! It was clear and concise and to the point. Nice use of visuals. Well thought out. Thank you. - JFC -
I found this to be a very esy to understand explaination of the use of Pivot tables. So much so that I have finally found a solution to a rather vexing Access reporting problem for one of my users.

I have used Pivot tables in Excel for a while but didn't realize they could be used in Access. Great article! Easy to follow and informative.

Thanks, Mary Ann, I was totally clueless that possibility even existed. I have to maintain an Access database of 60 copy machines and am continually asked to analyze the data in various ways for cost efficiency purposes. Previously, I had been exporting datasheet archives into Excel and doing a lot of manual analysis, but this...needless to say, will save a ton of time! Thank you!

Good article and the function would be useful if I could get beyond the following error message that I get when I try to edit the Pivot Form once I have created it -"There isn't enough memory to complete the Automation object operation on the OLE object". This happens even when Access is the only application running. I have had support go through the recommended troubleshooting and increase the virtual memory on my machine to 250Mb and there is plenty of free disk space but this doesn't help. Does anyone know how to resolve this ? I am running Access on Windows NT 4.

It was very informative and gives me another alternative to manipulating all of my data strictly in queries & reports. Pivot tables is something I was aware of but never became familiar with, so therefore I never used them but I would be willing togive them a try now. Thank you.
