Unions protect those of the 'working class' against the evils of greedy management. That's why we have them, and they are still necessary in some institutions. In every case where I have seen professionals in an established union environment, the result has been a damaging leveling of performance. IT is a place for professionals who respond to demands of technology and dynamics of the business being supported. The 'protection' of the union keeps sludge in the crankcase.
