OK but...
The next time the user's monitor gets dirty they will report it again as a lowering of performance. It is far better, when possible, to explain exactly what you are doing. After all, do we send out qualified techs to simply wipe screens? I usuallu do a defrag, scandisk, reset the swap file and whilst they are running worry about cosmetic things whilst explaining to the user how to do these minor items of routine maintenance themselves. By empowering the user they have more buy in to he support process and have more idea of how to look after themselves.
