Thirdly, Many companies boast that their most valuable asset is their employees. Yet let there be the first sign of economic trouble, and these same companies start dumping their most valuable 'asset'. If it was so valuable in the first place, how can you afford to 'throw it away'?
Fourth, a slave cannot serve two masters. There will be times that the interest of the client and the interest of the contracting company are at odds. Permanent employees will usually have a better attitude and perseverance in dealing with problems because they have 'bought in' to the company. They will push the envelope to make things better, where most contract employees will do what he who pays the bill wants.
Unless the tax codes are changed such that it favors keeping permanent employees, more and more of us will become contract workers, as I have done.
