Contractors make better lovers
I worked for five years as a system engineer for a giant national firm. Doing the same thing day in and day out. Got nice benefits, percs, raises, and an annual office party with free liquor. Then they closed the place and I was on the curb, andquickly learned that I was an artifact because my experiences were limited to what the company bought in those 5 years.
Now I am a contractor, and I learn more new stuff in a few months than I did in 5 years as a company man. Frankly, in retrospect, I can't believe that company paid me as much as it did considering how little I had to know to do the job. I am pert-near a guru now, by comparison.
