As the publishing world changes and
adapts to the new world of the internet we
find ourselves asking many questions.
Probably the most important questions
will not be answered prior to reality itself
making known to us "the way it is." I work
for a good size Christian publishing
company and we are paying particular
attention to activity on the internet. The
.com businesses like Amazon, Barnes
and Noble are not something we fear or
feel we have to compete with. Our view is
that they are becoming important partners
for us, and our real concern is: Can we
adapt fast enough to the new markets
they have the potential of opening up for
us. When I read about the Global
ventures Amazon is developing, I see
huge market potential. But are we ready?
How many of our profitable books are in
Korean (a potentially huge market for
Christian publishing)? How long would it
take us to get ready? As our new
partners grow they may also help provide
some of the very services we need to
penetrate these new markets effectively.
OK team, Let's go!
