Good Start
csmith@... 11th Feb 2004
A simple proposition should start with is this project to help the top line, or the bottom line.
Helps the managers also, because objectives are once again shifting from bottom line to top line.
One way is also to involve end users in the business need statement. more to this aske them to motivate their needs taking into account their impact on the bottom line or the quality of their job.

Cost-benefit analysis
cpr 26th Feb 2004
Most larger firms have 'standard' payback periods (usually 3 - 5 years). Your cost estimates/benefits should cover this time period (include all costs such as initial costs, training, annual maintenace fees, etc, as well as all benefits - calculated into dollar values (if possible)). After this payback period, you will get a fairly good idea how beneficial it is to your firm.

To confirm that the hardware you wish to purchase falls into this category, we advise that you contact your local Procurement Officer or your Staff ICT Support staff who will be able to advise you. - Kyle Thomas Glasser
