While it is possible the macro works in Outlook 98, those without access to Outlook 2000 cannot read the macro. According to the Microsoft site, the only way to convert a file from 2000 format to 98 format is to save as a 98 format from 2000.

For those of us still on 98, would it be possible to publish a 98 readable format?

Thanks
Can you use this macro if you use Lotus Notes as your Email system?

No, Sorry

This is written specifically for Outlook 2000.

It would be possible to have a VBA programmer convert this to be used for any MAPI system but there are no plans to make that conversion with this download.

You should have mentioned your system requirements in the article, so that we wouldn't have to wade through all of these questions and responses to find out whether we can use your macro.

Don't assume that everyone is using the same version of a program, or the same email package, unless they all work within your company.

This was covered in the article that was in the zip file.

Sorry for you time...

I'm running Outlook 2000, the issue is MS Project-specific. You should mention that up front so readers don't end up wasting their time...
On the download page it lists Project 2000 as the version this was written for.

In another thread of this discussion it is mentioned that I am working on a Project 98 version. It should be up sometime next month...

Anyone know of a netscape version to accomplish this same task?

The "cool e-mail status report" helped a lot. Thanks. Can someone help me with this one? I want to find a way to use the same resources for multiple projects. In other words, I want to find a way of storing a "resource file" that can be used foreach project without having to type them all in manually whenever I create a new project file. Any offers?
Micro soft recommends that this be SAVED AS a Project 98 or 99 format in Project
2000. The converter will not work.

The macros as shipped will only work with project 98.

Sorry

Well Brian, which is it? Your title says it will not and the body says it will only...

As others have commented, MS states that the file (& macros) must be converted from Project 2000 using "save as". Will you? or Will it do any good? I'd like touse this but I am on Proj98 (w/ Outlook 2000). Please advise.

I mistyped in the last note and said only 98.

My mistake.

I will be working on a 98 version for this macro and should have it done next week.

If you need the 98 version please send email to the link at the bottom of the article and we will send it out when we have it done.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for putting together 98 version, I would appreciate a copy when available.

Brian,
Thanks for hanging tough on this. I would like a 98 version when available. Just, remember, the more we complain about not having your code, the more you should realize the value it offers; and that we can't or won't do it ourselves.

98 version
cpatriarche 18th Apr 2001
Could you please make available a version of this for Project 98?
Can someone please save the macro in the Project 98 format. This must be done in 2000, you can't move forward.

Thanks,

Gail Schuler
Since not everyone has upgraded to Microsoft's 2000 products, it would be nice to have these types of tools in lower version formats (95 or 98). Usually, the higher versions can open the lower version formats.

I also cannot use this tool since Iam using Project 98.

Type of email

Our company uses Lotus Notes for our email. Are there any changes that can be made to this macro to be able to utilize it for other email formats besides Outlook?

You could modify this macro to use the MAPI general functions rather than the Outlook automation I choose.

I picked this method because it should examples of automating Outlook from another application and working with Project.

Standard to theVBA framework are functions for using the default MAPI client to send mail. If Lotus is reg'd as the default MAPI client then you could do this.

How can I get MS Project 2000 to recognise that I am using Netscape Mail and not Outlook?
I am sorry for the confusion on the version of Project this works with. I typed 98 when I meant to type 2000.

This only works with 2000 for now.

I will be working on a 98 version, saving it over and testing it to make sure it works OK. If you need the 98 version please send email to one of the two email links in the article and we will send it to you.

Thanks for all the interest and patience.

4/19/01 Tech Republic email msg. titled "Create cool e-mail status reports" offers a MS Project tool that was created with Project 2K. I would imaging that like me, most other users are still running Project 98 (in fact, our corporate IT organization has yet to make the move to Project 2K, so I have no choice in the matter). The so-called converter doesn't convert Project 2K files to Project 98 format - the conventional practice as indicated on Microsoft's web site is for the sendxer to save the file with the older version file name extension, onlyn then can the receiver open the file with the older software.

Offer it as Proj. 98 and it will be really cool!

The article mentioned that it was for 2000 only. We are working on a 98 version and it will be ready sometime in May.

Thanks

Any advice in setting up TeamInBox in NT 4.0 server to W'95 drive? Can't access mspjhttp.exe, can't get web folder to share with Workgroup Members, and won't send to WebInBox unless we have MAPI.
What did I do wrong? I copied the macro 'ResourceStatusReport' into a test project and was not able to generate e-mails with correct reports for each resource assigned to the project. Tried several scenarios with different results. One resource willget a report with only his/her open tasks. Another resource will always get a report showing the status for all open tasks. Reports will vary for the remaining resources. Is there a way to contact the author to provide more information. Getting thismacro to work would be a very big thing for my organization. Please advise. Thank you.
If you downloaded the macro before the 20th of April you have a version that contained a bug.

This link will explain and give instructions on how to get the new version and correct any existing projects you might have with the old version.

Thanks and sorry for the trouble.

The link as posted came through with a space in it so it does not work. You can also find the article by clicking on the Author Bio link at the top of this article and finding it there.

Thanks

Problem - Followed your instructions to copy macro to my project. When I re-open my project, macro is not present. Must go through the entire procedure again??

Assumption - Now the e-mails are not sent automatically. The assumption is that this is done to give me a chance to review first??

Yes, if the macro is not in your plan then we might have missed a step. You can also copy the macro code to the clipboard and then paste it into the "ThisProject" module in your plan. This will work too.

And yes, the emails are created and then displayed for your review. It will not send them automatically. This gives you a chance to add messages to them or to choose NOT to send to a given user.
Do you have this email status report for MS Pro 2002?
I ran this on a simple project with one resource and it worked fine. When I tried to add a second resource, I got the following error:

Winproj has caused an invalid page fault in VBE6.DLL at 016f:65026153.

This happens every time. I looked on technet, but was unable to find anything related to this.

Any ideas how I can get this to work? I am desperate to be able to send email status reports to my team.

I did get this to work. Need to be on the latest SR of Project 2000 (SR1) and the latest on Office (SR2). Otherwise, was getting lots of invalid page faults.

When I click on the link to download the macro, there is no download. Has this been eliminated?
