Here is a link as to how to use SQL Profiler for SQL Server 2005:

but here is a good article that gives you the meat which is what to trace and filter.

Just remove the space from "tip s" in the link.

Thanks Susan, for this article. It helped me. And thanks to Kalman for guiding me to this article.

The article clearly shows how to start a trace - what it doesn't say is:
1. what elements are interesting enough to make a performance difference.
2. how to read the trace results - and then apply specific improvements for performance.
I realize this is an introductory article by the title - however I think just a few more real-world examples with some instruction on what to do with the results would have been helpful.
Thanks,
Dan L

Thanks for the comment. I agree and a follow up article addressing those points would be perfect.

Sql Profiler is present in Sql server. Here i am using sql server2005,it already present in Sql server disk which has to installed at the time of installation.
In Sql server 2005,it present in "Tool" menu>>Select "Sql Server Profiler".After that u must have to login and then start the trace and performs some action. Here u can see whats the process/operation are going on database.
We can perform many operation by the profiler.

Setting up and starting the trace was pretty painless. How do I read the trace? Are there any tutorials or links out there to help me make the trace useful?
Thank you
