How strong is your password? Are you the weakest link or do you take pride in having the most forgettable password imaginable?
Discussion on:
Choosing between a strong password that has to be written down or one that is all alpha characters is not appealing. It doesn't take much imagination to come up with (for instance):
|) = D
? = P
^ = A
@ = a
0 = o
$ = S
| = i
Make up passwords like:
"23Skidoo" = 23$||d00
"APassword" = ^9@$$w0r|)
Such passwords can't be cracked easily, and don't need to be written down. To avoid easily guessable passwords, pick words at random out of the dictionary. Then even if the perp has the substitution guide, there is no way to guess the password.

If you really want a strong password, worry less about Numbers and symbols, and more about length. Lenght is what really gives you strength. Use a Passphrase instead of a password.
