i can't image the my organisation without IIS and ASP.NET

There are three components for Window XP Professional or for Windows Server 2003 that make the intranet of your organization more power and profit for usage: MSSQL Server, ASP.NET and IIS.

Sure - Just as long as you use the IIS Lockdown Toolkit from Microsoft

As with all IIS usage I think the Lockdown Tool Kit fro Microsoft is just as essential as IIS ? with out it you may as well open the front door on your server and give the world the keys.

As for ASP .NET?I can just hope you have made sufficient changes to the Local Security Policy settings as the user ASP .NET is not exploited by anyone who wants to just let them selves in.

VM, great for home computers

Wife and I have used VM ware in our home computers for several years. We have MS XPpro for basic operating system which calls the complete DOS 6.22 when desired - quite often. I also was able to play around with a couple versions of Linux (which I never cared for). complete manual for VM ware was printed out before initial installation. Have had no problems attribuable to VM use.

VMWare Workstation Tutorial

VMWare workstation is brilliant as you can
run multiple operating systems at the same time. You can take snapshots if you know you are going to perform some risky operation and then easily rollback if something goes wrong.

Making backups of the entire OS is as easy
as copying the vmware files.
