We have a server that contains hundreds of Word documents (.DOC) that have embedded hyperlinks. The hyperlinks point to an IP address of a server (the person that set up the hyperlinks did not use FQDN) The server IP address is going to change. Is there a tool or way to globally change the IP address within the hyperlink?
Why is the IP address changing? If you are migrating the data to a new server, then I suggest adding the old server's address to the new server when you complete the migration. A server can have more than one IP address. Problem solved.
Otherwise, I would wonder why you are changing the IP of a server.

The server is at a leased facility and management center. The web site and data is moving to a completely new server environment.
I use one tool that maybe can help you. Application is called ReplaceMagic and you can find it on www.replacemagic.com
I used tool for big files migrations where links where broken. It supports changes in hyperlinks, OLE object links and texts in different parts of documents.
For me it was extremly usefull.
Wish you luck,
Marcus
