I have gone through the nightmare of no ups in a smal bus. network (SBN) that my brother owns. As a favor (I am not an IT specialist, by trade, so don't crucify me yet ). . . . . I set the network up as a serverless 4 user (now 8 user), network with a well known-recommended Brand (4 port)business firewall/VPN router which sets behind the ISP's DSL-Modem/Gateway. I have had brownouts and surges and outages that have been devistating to production and stability. We are putting new electrical and UPS for the router, MFP printer, and workstation areas.

It took major impedences and pain to convince the owner (my brother ) to spend money on hardware to create stability.
I spent many nights and long travels working for free!!!
He does not want to spend money on labor either so I am ready to quit unless the database and network automation can be done more easily during our transition to new PCs with Win7 (home premium) and office2007 pro.

If you have any pointers: to source script code, native powerscript, or other free but certified software that will allow me to utilize this network's existing serverless scheme please due.
I have a day job and the nights are getting longer during my rampup to gain the knowledge in scripting within Win7 to automate maint. and mirroring and scans and PC system imaging tasks, networking the shared secure storage for seamless user access and multiuser database scenarios, and shared calendar/scheduling (without a mail server).......help?
