What is missing from this 10 steps list? Do you have a Linux tip or tutorial that we could publish?

The article is very clearly written and easy to follow. Now I know why you haven't updated your TR blog recently. grin That's good. This way more people will be able to see it.

Why PPTP, since it is the most vulnerable of the 3 main VPN flavours?

Aren't you talking about setting up a VPN client here, not a server??????
I wasted a lot of time thanks to this misleading title. The hunt continues.
all is good......... very good artical. but not in deep ?
The topic would seem to indicate that you are setting up a vpn server on Linux, but your steps show you how to connect to a "remote host", i.e. you are acting as a client....what gives?
i follow your steps in my os but disappear "pptp tunnel" i final ?

Please Help Me
1. On item#7 when I got downloaded the phpgtkmodule module and trying to install it, it can not resolve the dependencies. It says followings are missing:
libglib-1.2.so.0
libgtk-1.2.so.0
libglade
gtk+>=1.2.6
libxml.so.1
libmodule-1.2.so.0
libglade.so.0
libgdk-1.2.so.0
lbxml

even I try to download libglib-1.2.so.0 from a site but could not resolve the issue. Any suggestion.

2. in item#8 after download the module and using command line of item#9 pptpconfig, it needs pptp-linux>=1.2.0

Can any one suggest me how to proceed and make my LINUX machine as VPN Server. Quick help will be highly appreciated.

on step 7:

rpm --install php-gtk-pcntl-1.0.0-2.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
gtk+ >= 1.2.6 is needed by php-gtk-pcntl-1.0.0-2.i386
libglade is needed by php-gtk-pcntl-1.0.0-2.i386
glib is needed by php-gtk-pcntl-1.0.0-2.i386
libxml is needed by php-gtk-pcntl-1.0.0-2.i386
libgdk-1.2.so.0 is needed by php-gtk-pcntl-1.0.0-2.i386
libglade.so.0 is needed by php-gtk-pcntl-1.0.0-2.i386
libglib-1.2.so.0 is needed by php-gtk-pcntl-1.0.0-2.i386
libgmodule-1.2.so.0 is needed by php-gtk-pcntl-1.0.0-2.i386
libgtk-1.2.so.0 is needed by php-gtk-pcntl-1.0.0-2.i386
libxml.so.1 is needed by php-gtk-pcntl-1.0.0-2.i386
It's still too complicated. I found a zero-config VPN solution on linux. NeoRouter (www.neorouter.com) much easier and more powerful.
i couldn't setup this vpn packages

error obtain---#rpm -i dkms-1.12-2.noarch.pm /root/kalpana/vpn dkms-1.12-2.noarch.rpm
erro:open of dkms-1.12-2.noarch.rpm failed:no such file or directioy

thanks for this informative article. I prefer using a Linux platform and am really glad that most VPNs support Linux. I'm including a few that I've been reading about recently in this post; 1) http://vpncreative.com/review/vpnsecure-me-review/ 2) http://www.hushtunnel.com 3) http://vpncreative.com/review/ipredator-review/
