Im not a strict AMD or intel fan but Im glad Intel is getting their act together. Im tired of hearing AMD fans bash pentium chips, granted a fx chip will out perform my OC'd p4 in gaming. But I dont play games my whole life and my pc sees other duties that it would crush an AMD at. I will be awaiting the onslaught against AMD and will laugh when I upgrade to this new tech and show those braggers whos boss :P
I think that's what we all want. The better is in regards to power usage...but faster, lower power usage, cooler just wasn't catchy.
Whether it's AMD or Intel doesn't matter to me (although I've never owned an AMD system), I'm just glad I don't need to use my dual Pentium III Xeon 550's that sucked 34.5 watts EACH!

For me, a mixed bag who's owned both Intel and AMD chips, the deciding factor is bang for your buck. I play games occasionally but most of the time my pc is used for work. I won't pay a premium price for a cpu that's say 200MHz faster, or has 56k more L1/L2 cache than a competitors that is relatively cheap. The difference to the user (even myself) is nearly negligable. Value for money is what I look for. I've never really been pro Intel/anti AMD or vice verca.
Why not (invent) and stick them both in a custom 2 processor super-board and see what happens??
