This is a great tip! I did not use this feature before because I did not know that you could go back and erase/edit the passwords.

Now please tell me how to turn back on the dialog box that asks you if you want to save these credentials so that I can begin to use it.

Thank you
Bad bad idea. The security is not 'lacking' its non existant. There are about twenty programs available as free downloads (and several more commercial products) that can retreave ALL the data stored. All your Bank Account Passwords, your PayPal and eBay passwords and more. These programs are so easy to use even my great grandmother could retreave the information.

If anyone uses your computer ever, friends, teens, kids, co-workers, janitors, don't do it.
I'd be very hesitant to enable this feature due to Windows less-than-stellar reputation in the security arena. The best password is one that's stored only in your mind. And of course, the security implications of this feature should be mentioned and highlighted in the article.
Even Microsoft has departed from using the built in windows management of passwords and logon info. The new MSN messenger does not link to your windows based logon info anymore, nor does hotmail, or any other .net passport enabled site like they used to. You have to actually click a check box for the sites to save your information these days.
Kudos to the Microsoft team for actually realizing the canyon that created in individual systems security.

We keep a user account and password thats identical on all our workstations for maintanence purposes, it may be a security risk, but it works for us.
If you have it set that way, you can put an * in for the server when you go to add a user in the Stored User Names and Passwords tool and then put the user name and password in. this stops you from having to enter the user name and password for every resouce
