Have you tried the beta version of Outlook 2007? Did you experience the slowness described in the article? Did you chalk it up to beta software?

No, slowness has not truly been an issue with my Beta, instead I had tons of other fun! I would click on my desktop or start button and I would be rebooted, ask the outlook to open something like contacts and get dump of memory and BSD!
I had corrupted .pst files all over the place, lost all my most recent emails that had not been backed up yet. It got so bad that I reformatted the machine. Even my Restore Points were corrupt and could not be retrieved! Before reformatting the hard drive, I tried to save the most recent articles and documents and emails to CD, but my DVD/CD burning program had been corrupted! Had quite a long and rough haul with Outlook, that I can tell you. Now it works most of the time. I had to remove my Corel Mail, they were conflicting on my machine, or so it appears. Corel informs me that I am the only one that has had these issues. I ran MS Office Diagnostics tool and get 3 choices: all is fine, problems with my RAM or problems with my Hard Drive. The last two times I have been given the all is fine.
Fun, WOW!

Boy that does sound like lots of fun. I have had a few crashes using the beta, but nothing as exciting as you've described.

Not really at the "release candidate" stage I don't think. It seems there is more work for Microsoft to do.
I've had none of the problems you guys are describing. There were problems I found with mail getting stuck int he outbox when addressed to a group from my contacts. If I expanded the members in the group it would go. another bug that drove me nuts was that selecting text with the mouse while clicking and dragging would stop selecting after a few rows. Both were fixed in the latest build. I am using build 4407 on my desktop and have a newer build on my laptop, both seem very stable.

Just archiving some mail, removing some addons and services. Still, if it improves performance...
It's very nice that You make your outlook faster by removing fax services. and what if I do need fax services? I like the idea by making the computer faster by removing important features. Maybe it will be fastest if you don't use it at all.

Stll beta
Mark W. Kaelin 29th Sep 2006
That's a good point, but it is still beta. Presumably, this "tweak" to speed Outlook 2007 will not be necessary in the final version. If nothing else, it will be something test when it is finally released.

I like many of the new features in Outlook, but I am concerned about the state of the current beta.
Indeed, that's just retarded. I've found that cutting the brake line on my car greatly increases my average speed per trip. Of course I've only made one trip, but...
My husband cannot receive emails in Outlook 2007 or 08 on his Dell. He is using my computer now. Help!!!!!!!!
