How can one make their blog more visible, how to advertise your blog?
Here are a few links to things I've written that might help in increasing the popularity of your weblog and otherwise making it successful:
a small piece of the social networking puzzle
Analyzing Web 2.0 (and the 98% rule)
another point in favor of "do it yourself"

Though this is easily,said,the best way to make one's blog visible and advertise the same,is to write a good one.A good blog,neither needs viibility or advertisement.These two follow,it.
Still it is possible to lay down certain rules:-
1.Following the points mentioned in the parent topic about the ten ways is one.
2.One has to put some effort into one's blogs.
3.CHOOSING A CONTROVERSIAL TOPIC,witout being,controversial oneself,is another way.One is sure to get responses!And this is both visibility and advertisement.Better,be careful!
4.Blog,on a topic,about which you know something,so that you can write confidently.(Or if you are too serious,make some research on the topic,before blogging).
5.Try to use of humour,in an unoffending way, and make the reader,smile!
6.Try to be polite.A polite blog wins many friends!

Why did you plagiarize a TR article, then link to it from here? I'm guessing the "Jean" that runs that blog is the same person as you, "jean_ka", of course.
I've used the other tools and found that my needs are met adequately by Bob Tantliger's Thingamablog. If you want to take a look it's at Sourceforge, http://thingamablog.sourceforge.net/ and is an easy to use tool.
For the record: MSN Spaces are neither good looking or easy to navigate.
This may be a silly question.. but while I have been reading a few blogs... I am curious how to start one.
Let me re-phrase.. I have my own personal site... Share past work... photos etc.. but am curious how I could post a blog to my own domain rather then use a blogger.com type of service. - mostly because I woul like it to fit within my own site design rather then the provided templates or limited template variations.
In-experienced and curious?

WordPress[/a] is the best premade weblog platform I've seen yet. Go to that link, read a little about it, then download it and install to your webserver by following the directions for doing so. Depending on your webhost, you may actually have a one-click installer for it already available on the webserver. WordPress is what I use[/a], and it has worked great for me, though I've had to tweak it a little bit to suit my preferences. I'd surely have to either tweak something else more, though, or do without some of the functionality WordPress gives me and on which I now rely.
Thanks apotheon.... Went to wordpress.org... they have a
standard question to email your host (verio in my case)...
so I asked -
I'm interested in running the open-source WordPress
blogging software and I was
wondering if my account supported the following:
* PHP 4.2 or greater
* MySQL 3.23.23 or greater
* The mod_rewrite Apache module
Hopefully they support this... or I will need to find another
host for my site.... since I really want to try to ad a blog to
my site. - Thanks and I'll keep you posted

I don't think you actually need the mod_rewrite Apache module unless you want to do particular things with the internal URLs for WordPress. You should be okay as long as your webhost supports appropriate versions of PHP and MySQL. Also, don't forget to check the control panel for your webhosting account to see if there's a one-click autoinstaller for WordPres already available to you. It could save you some effort in getting set up.
There's some good stuff in here, thanks.
However, there's one thing I have to take issue with. The recommended web tools.
Dreamweaver is overkill for all but a totally from scratch blog site. Frontpage is the MySpace of web design. It makes terrible HTML and ugly sites. Amaya is ok, but dated.
If you must use an offline tool, try NVU. It runs on Windows, MacOS X, and Linux. It makes W3C compliant code and also does a good job of helping you make sites accessable to those with disabilities, and it's free.
Otherwise, most blogs, like BlogSpot for example, have pretty decent built in editing tools that would work for 90% of bloggers.

I agree totally with the above topic and I have decided to start another blog dedicated to my personal opinion about society & culture, education, and crime and punishment. But I am thinking about just focusing on the first three. Do you think I should do that? Also, how do I get more people to read my blog?
Some great ideas - some which I am already doing and some which I will incorporate asap. Blogging is fun and challenging and I'm aware of where I can improve but there is so much to learn! It's great.
