overlooked: those tapes/DVDs represent a perfect copy of all your data and documents... if someone stole the backup would they be able to read it? or is encrypted? at what level? ...ask the OEMs for both the tape drives (some do encryption at the hardware level as the data is written) and the software for the backup (encryption done immediately after the read)

either try it... get another server (suggest: bare metal intended for some other purpose temporarily diverted) and try to perform a restore and see if it asks for a password... in which case you got a problem...

overlooked: documenting the complete chain-of-custody... the backup media is handed around and shipped off... who touches it? who does the delivery? who signs off on the cartridge (DVD disc) count?
Great Q and A!!! Thank you!

It sure is painful reading an article with so many run-on words, where the spaces between the words are missing. In fact, I couldn't do it.
