I noticed that the License is Copyright. Copyright ?2005 CNET Networks, Inc. All rights reserved.

I am very bothered by this because the template is almost (90%) copy of a template I?ve been using for years (since the mid-90). I?m not sure how you got a hold of my template, or that this is such common knowledge or format that it is not unique work. I would like it if you would pull the Copyright notice.

Either you got mine, or it is common knowledge, in either case too many similarities for it to be copyrightable work.

The word version of the template crashed my Word (more than once) !

(pdf is fine)
What version of Word do you use and in which version is the document created?

Word documents created in a higher version than the one in which you use them (e.g. XP > 97) might get corrupt and make Word crash (unpredictably, e.g. when you try to print). Corruption risk increases when a lot of tables, styles, and new Word features are used... This behaviour can be avoided if the author avoids features of the new version (1) and saves the document as e.g. new version

FYI & FWIW: when opened in (my) Word 97, (apparently it doesn't crash immediately but) page 11 shows (overlapping) both sections 'Tell us what you think' and 'Additional resources'.

(1) More info at Microsoft and various discussion fora, e.g. http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=wrd&Number=310735&page=&view=&sb=&o=&vc=1#Post310735

Hi,
I hadn't taken backward compatibility into account on this one (it was saved in WordXP), so I'm really glad you pointed this out. I resaved it using a Word add-in (Remove Hidden Data), which we normally use to get rid of elements that can derail a doc in earlier versions. I just republished it, so you may want to give it a spin. If you continue to have problems, please let me know and we'll try something else. Thanks again,

Still Broken
maddmike 3rd Oct 2005
Jody, the template is still unopenable. Can you give it another shot?
Jody, I tried downloading the file to two different systems (both running Word 2002). Openning the file crashes Word everytime.

It doesn't matter whether you Save the file to disk or open directly online. Word still crashes.

Please post a PDF.
No matter what I do the word template crashes.

Couldn't open file
IamWenK 14th Sep 2005
I could not get the file to download. I kept getting Microsoft errors. Looked like it might be a good tool.
Whether I download or open the doc file, my MS Word 2002 (SP3) running on XP Pro crashes. Please give us a fix. Thanks.

You can open with wordpad then save as Word 6 format and convert. A lot of the formatting is lost but you'll get the drift. Formatting looks OK in Wordpad.

I have been using this template for a couple of years and have never had a problem with it. This is probably not helpful, but at least it is information. I have Office 2003.
msg displays "server not ready"
