I'm 58, so I can relate to the times, office layouts and furniture,
constant smoking and in many ways less pressure of working back
in the late '60's and 70's, no mobile phones and e-mail so when
you left the office to go home you were free untill the next day. It's
always weird to consider what was being developed in companies
like HP which would effect our lives while we got on with living in
our own little worlds around the big world. Thanks.

Those old photos are definately a mind twist. I still have a HP Printer like the one photo'd, but don't remember the model number.
Smoking in the office. Now that is another one (but I still can).
I also have stashed away somewhere in the old dead closet, a HP Computer. The company paid about $3,000.00 for it. I cannot remember what OS was on it or its speed. Going to have to did it out and see if it will fire up.

Those of us working for non-profit organizations know all about office furniture like this. My chair which I've used since 1983, was built in the 60's. It's a little worn, but still sits better, and is in better working condition than many of the newer "Office Depot" special that are currently available. My desk, was surplused from Boeing in the late 50's and is a beautiful shade of "Office mint green". It is also built like a Sherman tank (who knows, it might have been one!)
I have fond childhood memories (1963-1966) of my Dad taking me to his job at 1501 Page Mill Road on the weekends. We would go to the lab where I was permitted to look through the electronic microscope. The experience was powerful. Thanks for posting pictures of the entrance, it was really great to see it again.
