Drive mapping uses the Net Use function which uses the NetBIOS API and this needs WINS. you cannot map a drive with DNS because it uses the Winsock API. If you're getting duplicate name errors you need to triple-check all the WINS entries in the WINS database. if you're not running WINS, you need to install it. Hope this helps
