I don't believe it's that big of a deal. The example in the article that comes to mind is "if everone in the worlds phone number chaged." The one thing people forget is that...what's that phrase....backwards compatible. Even if everyones "phone number" changes the "old phone number" would just be redirected to the new phone number until the central database is updated.
