I sell and repair computer systems. Once I check out the computer and find the Pin 1 locations on the motherboard and drives, I mark the Pin 1 location with a red marksalot or ink pen. That way I or my customers do not have to go looking again to find where Pin 1 is at.
I admit that each motherboard and drive manufactures do not follow any standard protocol or labeling. If you do not have the manual for them, as in my case the customer did not buy the computer from me, the customer does nothave the manuals or lost them. It takes a bit of time to figure out where the Pin 1 locations are.
