Polycom's VSX 7000 provides superb video and sound quality, IP and ISDN connectivity, and remote administration. The unit is a great H.264-compliant video conferencing solution for medium-sized conference rooms and should be at the top of your product list. We tested an IP-only Polycom VSX 7000 for more than 30 days. Our review reveals the system's strengths and weaknesses.

We recently received and installed one of these units, one here in our main office and another in our call center in Yakima. Since this is an IP based unit, the traffic travels over ds-3s we have installed between the 2 buildings. The unit was very easy to setup and even easier to use. We use an overhead projector instead of flat panels. The unit is easy to move and easy to setup in any new location. Instead of dialing a phone number, it simply dials the ip of the remote unit. We particularly liked the fact that we could change the bandwidth that the unit uses, and the video/audio quality is excellent. With features like remote mute, and remote camera control, it makes it easy to control the focus of the presentation. The PIP feature allows the speaker/listener to be in-view, while the main display can be used for presentations. This is a great unit, and I would recommend it to any admin group or helpdesk. The execs have enjoyed it, as well as many in HR and our training division uses it, too.
