After reviewing at least one of the responses to this article, it seems like one pre-condition to the 10 commandments is missing. The commandments assume that programmaers are mature adults who are socialized enough to work in cooperative groups.

Dear Abby's May 6th, 2005 column gave an excellent definition of maturity.

Maturity is the ability to control our impulses, to think beyond the moment, and consider how our words and our actions will affect ourselves and others before we act.
