Not every available service in a Linux distribution is absolutely necessary. In fact, many services are not necessary at all, except in specific circumstances. What is the most unusual or atypical Linux service you have installed? Why?

all inclusive, as there are still lots of services that could show up that aren't in the listing... like subversion.

I just installed everything from the distro in question to show that the list of available services is huge, and if you look at it, contains a lot of duplication. [ how many laptop battery monitoring tools do you need, or periodic command schedulers? ]

In the Trivia Geek's blog about the proposed script on installing linux one member commented about the suspend function not working for his laptop, as it required a windows partition. Maybe a different monitoring tool would have made it work. [ with 8 available to try you never know ]
a Listing that shows that there are options for almost every service shows that there may be a tool that will enable functionality in odd hardware, like a lot of laptops have.

I may have gotten a little carried away on the title. Perhaps a quick edit would be in order.
