I find the article starting from simple and added code step by step, and following with result diagram, very easy to understand. Well done!

As a system administrator I don't spend very much time learning how web pages are constructed. I'm too busy learning how to create encrypted network connections and such. Having some idea of what is going on in CSS is valuable to me. This article spanned the void between providing a glimpse of what is happening vs. studying a book on the subject, which I wouldn't do. At least now I can see that the CSS boxes look just like HTML code. I'd like to read more quick and dirty articles about CSS.
This is the page from the lady who created the add-on "View Source Chart".

You will find this even more helpful understanding how the "box model" is being used now in coding web pages.

Thanks for a clear, concise article. I, personally, would like to see more articles like this on the basics of CSS.

Coding HTML has become very complicated with different coding languages affecting the look of web pages. This includes languages like XML, CSS, PHP, etc.

More articles like this will help techs to understand how complicated coding web pages has become.

Just my opinion...

I think this is a good, simple explanation and the diagrams help illustrate the box model. I featured this on my new blog http://www.web-betty.com/10things as a "Resource of the Week" (ROW). I know this has helped me. happy
thanks a million for the perfect explanation

The box model applies to block-level elements. A companion concept, the inline layout model, defines how inline elements are positioned, and is covered in Inline Formatting. hire a programmers
