Almost everyone who is interested in the topic of IP filtering knows where to go to adjust the settings. What they don't know is how they can use this feature to allow or disallow certain types of traffic. It would be much more helpful if you can list the protocol numbers, their cooresponding traffic types and whether it's TCP, UDP or IP.

Port 6000 will definitelly block any instant messaging. if you check this web site not only applies to MAC OS but also applies to Windows OS

Thank you gwright.

It would be better knowing what ports to keep open and what to block. A list of known protocols like IM and such would be helpful.
