I'm going to connect 2 close buildings with fiber using HP2800-24 layer 3 switches and mini-GBIC fiber adaptors. Originally the offices were miles apart and connected with frame relay. The part I want clarification on is that I want a different IP range in each building. I'm not sure how to implement this to seperate the IP ranges. I'm initially thinking that it will involve a VLan to separate the fiber from the the rest of the switch.
Each building will have a separate Internet connection and existing Cisco router. The first office also still has frame relay to other remote offices that the new office will also have to use.
Any suggestions or tutorials on segmenting a network using layer 3 switches? Seems like it should be more or less a "cookie cutter approach" because lot's of places have their network segmented similarly.
