Hi,
I have a user who when she tries to open email sent as a .msg attachment is unable to do so. She is prompted to choose an application. I know that .msg is a Microsoft mail message and OE should be able to open it, yet I cannot find anything on the Microsoft Knowlege Base to address this. Has anyone ever see this? Suggestions?

In the outlook express > tools > general tab you should see down the bottom where it defines whether or not OE is the default mapi application.
This is the first thing to check. Then you can also in windows explorer check the file extensions to make sure that oe is set as the default application globally.
Make sense?

Sorry for hijack this topic. I have the same problem but in Outlook 2003. Any ideas?
I found it.
There seems to be an incompatibility issue with the latest version of Google Desktop.
I had to go into Tools->Options->Other->Advanced Options->Add-in Manager
and uncheck the box beside "Google Desktop Search Outlook Addin"
I hope this help someone else

I had the same issue and fixed it by disabling the Google Desktop Search Outlook Addin as you suggested. It seems that the Google desktop search still works in Outlook.
Thanks for this great solution!!

Yesterday I spent more than four hours on my cell phone with the Dell tech in Manila trying to help me with the closed envelope attachment problem. Many thanks to fcampos_z for solving this problem for me.
