Lost Important Files on Windows XP

Hi,
I got this message when I tryed to
open a folder in Drive F: off a hard drive I took out of my broken desktop and used a sata power adaptor USB to IDE to read the files on my laptop and hoping to copy them:

WINDOWS - DELAYED WRITE FAILED
Windows was unable to save all the data for file F:\$Mft. The data has been lost.This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware. Please try to save this file elseware.

Can I get these files back somehow?
I need help,PLEASE!
