Remote user not able to access Exchange server using Outlook through VPN

My wife has problems accessing her work e-mail on Microsoft Exchange Server using VPN client when doing so remotely. This problem ONLY seems to happen at home - she has no problems doing so when travelling in hotels etc. However, these she usually has wired connection instead of wireless which we have at home. We use a Vigor 2600G router but Draytek say the problem isn't with the router, possible firewall. This (Bitdefender) I have turned off - even uninstalled -but no difference. Cannot think it would be something on my PC as often this is switched off (router still on) when my wife is working. She has no problems with internet access but Outlook often freezes. Anyone have any suggestions? I am not a tech guy so please keep it simple. Much obliged, Dave.

Check with your service provider
Some providers block the VPN protocols.

I also had a problem establishing a VPN connection when my wireless router died and I had to go back to my five year old linksys hardwired. The old system didn't handle it.

Check for a firmware update for the firewall.

Much obliged, thanks for that. My wife is convinced it is the service provider although I did contact them- their reply was that they do not support VPN but that it should work! I do keep my firewall up to date on both the XP and Bitdefender front although the Bitdefender asks me to turn off Windows firewall to prevent clashes?? Much appreciated - we're moving to the US in the summer!
