Hi, i am using Vista Business edition. I have a problem whereby the mic boost option in windows vista will not stay on after every restart despite enabling it repeatedly.
This problem has been reported by a few users on internet forums already, without any solution.
I suspect its my motherboard incompatibility with Vista as some users experiencing the same problem as me have the same mobo - AN8.
Is there any script that i can run on startup that re-enables the mic boost option so that i do not have to do it manually?

Yes it's quite easy
First backup all your data to some external source not formatted by Vista then place a Boot Floppy into the Floppy drive and reboot the system. When you get to the A Prompt insert IBM Wipe & Zap Utility and type in Wipe 0 then press enter at the next prompt telling you that all the data on the C drive will be destroyed do you wish to continue select Yes and allow the drive to be wiped. Then insert a XP Install CD into the Optical Drive and install XP.
The AN8 drivers are still beta and you have to expect some issues with them so if you wish to continue to use Vista we need you to as it's people like you who are responsible for helping to work out all the bugs that we IT Pros don't want to know about you should post these problems to the Vista Users Community here.

Or dump Vista and use something that works so you are not adversely affected by the inability of Vista to work properly which if you are in business will be costing you money. However if this is a Home computer continue to use Vista and just turn on the Mic Boost every time that you need it and wait till the next set of drivers become available.

I really despise how hardware monkeys are always very quick to blame software and are extremely resistant to change, to the point of adopting something that is a blatant step backwards to avoid progress. Stop being a jackass, admit you haven't spent 20 minutes in vista, and plan on buying a mac for christmas. Stop wasting this person's time as he has a valid question.
I see very few 'IT pros' on tech republic. What I mainly see are networking guys who are full of themselves, dabble in hardware in their spare time, and think they know significantly more than they actually do. There's a reason I pay you to fix my pc: as a software architect, my time is worth more than yours is.
Fix is simple, you need to update vista's legacy audio support. Worked perfectly for me after I updated said drivers.

Have the same problem, using nforce2 motherboard. Have you seen if SP1 fixes it?
