which is the best visual basic for...

excel 2003. i need to write some scripts that will make life a little easier for people at work. macros haven't been able to cut it. visual basic is not a strength of mine, and if i knew it, i'd be able to use it for other stuff as well. we're all running office 2003 at work with xp pro PCs and a couple Vistas. i'm not really concerned about the Vistas. but, is there any particular book or training aide someone can suggest that would help a non-programming person understand visual basic? also, at barnes and noble, there's several books on different versions of visual basic? which visual basic version should i concentrate on for excel 2003?

If you want to do it inside Excel
Then you want VBA (Visual Basic for Applications)
The syntax is fairly similar

Look for VBA Excel 2003 on google

Sybex do a book Mastering Excel Scripts with VBA. That sounds a bit over the head of a novice, but the others I've seen in the series, do run through the basics first and give a lot of meaningful examples.
