IEXPLORE.EXE upon start-up

Hi,

(This is on my home computer.) Whenever I start up my computer, I open the process explorer, and I see three processes all named "IEXPLORE.EXE", but there aren't any windows associated with these processes. Does anyone have any ideas on what this is and how to get rid of it? I suspect that it's some kind of trojan or spyware, but don't know how to find it.

Run a Virus Scan and Spyware Scan
If you suspect is to be from a trojan or spyware, download and run any of the numerous scanners from the internet. Example: spybot S&D or AdAware from Lavasoft.
If you do not have any antivirus, you could download and install AVAST or AVG. The personal versions are free.
Kaspersky also has a great on line virus scanner.

Let us know if any of this helps.

Scan and Clean
Your situation may be due to Spyware, Adware or Malware.
Try emptying your Internet Cache* and then doing a scan and clean using either X-Cleaner Micro or Ad-Aware. Both are free.

X-Cleaner Micro:

Ad-Aware:

* To empty the Internet Cache - if you are using IE7, open to a browser window, click on Tools, select Internet Options, in the Browsing History section click on Delete and then in the next menu click on Temporary Internet Files 'Delete Files.'
If you are using IE6, click on Tools, select Internet Options and then under Temporary Internet Files click on the Delete Files button.

If you're nervous about removing things found by spyware scanners, and you are using Windows XP or Vista, you can always create a System Restore Point as a safety net.
