I just bought the HP Pavilion 6000n computer with Vista installed already. The tech guy at Circuit City said that I would need the additional software (I forget the name of it, but it's connected with Microsoft) to protect against spyware, phishing, malware, etc, etc. This was an additional $50, but wanting to protect my investment, I bought it. He said that it is very much needed with the Vista OS, AND the Norton internet security program would not be as useful.
What do you guys think?? Did I do good by purchasing the software?

well . . .
if you spent $50 on medieval: total war, then you shouldn't be allowed to touch a computer. but if you spent $50 on a decent antivirus suite, then you made a good choice.
i don't care how advanced computers get, you need av software. that's too obvious to even state.
i use macafee on my vistas at work b/c it's less bulky than norton.

Ha Ha, I'm not THAT stupid!!! It's the version of Microsoft av software that uses less RAM than Norton. So I think I made a good decision.

Windows Live Onecare vs NIS2007
Windows Live Onecare is probably better than nothing at all, although it is one of a few security suites to fail Virus Bulletin certification.

Perhaps the salesman equated "not as useful" with "not in stock?"
