Download I-Tunes
Unless I am missing something on Apple's site, all she needs to do is download and install I-Tunes.

http://www.apple.com/ipod/start/

Take a look at just what software is installed on your PC for her Nano. Then browse through the download section at Apple and download what you need.

If she still has problems, Apple tech support may be able to provide links to additional downloads, or send a disk.

No, it doesn't sound like anything, but it looks weird!
How did you learn about TechRepublic?

Why did you ask an iPod/iTunes question here, and not on an iPod/iTunes forum?

I think TheChas gave you the right answer, and you should give him the "Thumbs Up" for a helpful answer, but I'm also curious why you're asking what is basically an end-user/home electronics question on a site for IT professionals. These are network admins & programmers & database admins, now, not the boys at Best Buy here.

Download I-tunes
The only problem that she'll have is that the new I-tunes install will see that her Nano was synced with a different computer. To be able sync it with her laptop, she'll have to let I-tunes wipe it and then she can setup connected to her laptop. Hope she has her music on her laptop.
