Vista to domain

Add a new server running MS Small Business 2003 SP2 (previously all computers were connected in a workgroup). 2 XP pro, 1 2000 pro and 1 Vista ultimate on the network. All but the Vista box can connect to the domain, the Vista box returns the following error message:
?An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a DC in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS names in the target domain.?
I don?t know how to verify the DNS configuration ? if that really is the problem. I have had this Vista box since February and it has been a continuing battle to get anything to work on or with it, if I was not a developer I would have boxed it up and returned it.
