Faulty ATI Radeon X1600 Graphics Cards in MacBook Pro

I am a designer as well as a design instructor. A lot of my student
have complained about the new MacBook Pros ATI Radeon X1600,
graphics card and its inability to detect a secondary monitor. I had
just purchased the new MacBook Pro as well and am now facing the
same problem. Considering that portability and using a larger
monitor with the laptop is one of the big advantages, this really kills
its advantage as well as making me feel I have a faulty product that is
really not being adressed by Apple. Apple has not put out and
disclaimers or warnings about the card but still uses them in the
laptops. I just wanted to advise and hopefully get any input you
might know about this issue; or what Apple plans to do to replace or
fix these faulty graphics cards. As well as to inform consumers to be
cautious about purchasing the Macs with this graphics card. I am
including the link to the AMD site with their article on the issue >

be grateful.
