hi
it happened when a problem has accourd with the system and i restored my system by the System Restore about 3 times and its become good but i noticed that the hard disk drive became seem full i returned it back the restore and the used size become larger .
i asked the IT person he said must be some hidden files but there's none and he said your pc must be formatted
so plz give me some help.

Have you checked if files are eating your space?
I use this program called Space Monger
(url: http://www.sixty-five.cc/sm/v1x.php) and it will visually show you which files are eating your space. Maybe there are files that are bloated for some reason? Or maybe with the restore it created shadow copies of files in various places?
Something else to check is if the drive went from NTFS to FAT32 or FAT, that can kill a drive space too (cluster size being bigger).
Hope this either helps or leads you to the right path

Hey,
In Space Monger, click on the block that represents the file and the top menu should highlight some features you can do, one being delete.
If you can't click on the file, click on the name of the folder and then click on zoom in. Then you should be able to click on the file to delete.

Better to use a utility that's FREE...
SpaceMonger is only a trial for 15 days then you have to buy it, if you want to continue using it.
Better to use a similar product that is totally free from the outset. It does exactly the same job.

The link I provided in my previous post was for the version 1.4 and not that of 2.1

hi.
in windows xp, most of the hard drive space is taken up by system restore images, and also by the usually temporary internet files and stuff.
run the disk cleanup utility, which is BUILT-INTO windows xp, and click on the more options tab. then click cleanup on the system restore. you can also clean up the other stuff as well.
make sure that your computer is running the way you want it to before getting rid of those system restore images.
the good thing about cleaning up the system restore images through the disk cleanup utility is that you can keep the most recent system restore image and get rid of the old ones.
