PartitionMagic Problems

I am trying to dual-boot my laptop with Gentoo Linux and Windows Vista. I already have Windows Vista installed. Whenever I use PartitionMagic, it says that I will have 209 GB of free space left on a 80 GB Hard Drive. I tried GParted off the Fedora 7 Live CD, and that didn't work, it just gave me 15 errors saying that sda1 was unreadable. I booted off the Vista DVD, and ran "chkdsk /f /r", that didn't help. I defragged with Diskeeper 2007 Pro, that didn't help. I also tried Disk Manager in Vista, that only allowed me to shrink down 162 MB (I have ~50 GB free space).
