Windows 2003 server backup to have same data as of the backed up system
try Ghost copy of your system into your slave disk where you will transfer your old system (full info of the system). Connect your slave disk as master and note if there are any changes.
To backup/restore previous information and resource of your system try using windows 2003 backup system, Select backup of the System State Data, that will backup your server configuration; AD, Boot Files, COM+ Class Registration Database, Registry and SYSVOL.

use a program called robocopy, or similar, to sync data on both servers. set up a network cluster environment so that if server 1 fails server to will kick in. (not too sure of the specifics though)
