Server 2003 installation on server with S5000VSA board
We recently purchased a new server at work. It has the S5000VSA board with SRCS16 raid controller. This is the first time I'm setting up a server so my experience is very limited. I'm now having a problem and am hoping that someone can provide assistance. I set up the raid, installed the OS and then got the System Software updates off the Intel site. These were the BMC58 firmware updates, FRUSDR updates and the BIOS79 updates to flash the BIOS. After running these(which all completed successfully) the server kept rebooting whilst trying to load into Windows. We then tried to reformat the hard drive and re-install the OS. Partway through the installation of Server 2003, it halts and the "blue screen of death" appears. The following message is displayed: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL *** STOP:0X0000000A (0X00000010,0X00000002,0X00000000,0X805527BC) followed by "BEGINNING DUMP OF PHYSICAL MEMORY".Now I cannot get the OS to install. How do I sort this problem out? Please help!!!

Does your version of Server have SP1 or SP2 slipstreamed?

I have the same exact problem
I have the same server and did the same updates as you and I am receiving the same errors. Did you ever have any luck? If so, what did you do.

Have had no luck as yet. Sent the whole machine back to supplier. They replaced the board and raid controler but still can't get it to work. They tried themselves as well. Seems like the hard drives are stuffed.

Similar problem fixed on S5000PSL server
Hi Ashwin
I have just had a similar problem on a new server with an Intel S5000PSL board and SRCSAS144E SAS RAID card. I got the same last memory address as you in my BSOD which is how I found your posting.
The problem turned out to be a conflict between the BIOS setup and core Windows 2003 drivers. I was installing Windows using the RTM CD rather than one with SP1 or 2 slipstreamed in. Intel's advisory suggested either installing with an SP1 or 2 copy of Windows or temporarily disabling a BIOS setting to do with core multi processing until SP2 was applied later on. I chose the latter and the BSOD disappeared.
See http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/sb/CS-028321.htm
Hope this helps
Cheers

Hi
Tried this and it worked perfectly. My server is now working like a charm! Would like to know though, what effect disabling "Multi Core Processing" would have on the actual performance of the server? Many thanks, once again.

You guys are just the best.
I knew there would be an answer here as soon as the new machine did it's BSOD.
I also got an answer here at TR on how to do an install onto a RAID 1 setup on SATA disks.
This site has been a godsend over the years.

Disabling multicore processing worked. Question now is, after I have upgraded service packs, can multicore be reenabled and have the system stable?
Thanks!
Thanks!
