Our organization has never used OWA before but we identified a need for off-site email replication. I used the internet connection wizard to set up the OWA interface as suggested and it worked internally for a while. It has since stopped working correctly.
Currently, users can reach the web interface but as soon as you try to log in, the server throws a HTTP 500 error. I can't find any other resources to help with this and we're really looking to resolve the issue soon. Does anyone have a solution?

Try this...
Check out this link first: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;829167
(You don't need a third party app to fix this.)
Check IIS and confirm the settings are correct: Permissions, access restrictions, SSL certificate, etc.
Please keep us posted on your findings. Thanks. =]
