Cannot connect to the internet

I just installed a new server that runs Windows Server 2003 R2. I have connectivity to the cable modem but cannot connect to the internet. I have a Braodcom Gigabyte ethernet card in the server. I am new at this and not sure what all to install from the Server Management interface.I et the ip addresses by right clicking on the connection. When I click on the connection it even says it is connected. I hope someone can help.

Try this...
Go to Start... Run.... CMD [ENTER]

Type: ping www.yahoo.com [ENTER]

If the DNS is configured properly, you will see something along the lines of:

-----

N:\>ping www.yahoo.com

Pinging www.yahoo-ht3.akadns.net [209.131.36.158] wi

Reply from 209.131.36.158: bytes=32 time=25ms TTL=51......

-----

The key is that the DNS converted www.yahoo.com to (209.131.36.158) in this case.

If your DNS is configured correctly, let us know....

Cannot connect to the internet
Have you checked the internet settings on the browser. Does it have an ip address and a port for accessing the internet. It looks like a browser issue if it is connected to the internet but you are not able to view the pages. Also let me know if you have a firewall. You would have to configure your firewall to access the intenet pages. Try to add the proxy or select automatically detect the settings and let me know the outcome.
