I have a hp pavilion laptop and whenever it boots i get the message System Configuration Data updated
ERROR
System Configuration Data Read Error
F1 to Resume or F10 To goto setup
and when it attemps to start windows xp it just goes to the loading screen and freezes.
I have reset the default values in the Setup and attemped to reinstall new copy of windows but it also freezes when it starts windows.
It will boot in Safe mode, and i changed the cmos battery and that didnt work.
any idea anyone?
thanks

Ithe battery didnt work huh!
I thought it would and was going to post that in the previous question, but it was already posted.
Anyway, you may have some faulty RAM in there then. Run memtest86 on it http://www.memtest86.com/
make sure that you memory is good.
Post back with the results. It takes 24 hours to run thoroughly. But after a few passes it should find the failure (if there is one), but still run it for the full 24 unless it finds errors.

are in your system? Pull one out and try the test again. If it fails, pull the other and try again.
While possible that your processor is bad, it is more likely to be the motherboard or faulty RAM chip.

I got the program to run in safe mode i ran it all night it got to about 3800% done with 0 errors.
So its not the ram right?

how i solved my problem
friend i had the same problem then what i did was this.
go to bios setting
and then change to "default system setting"
this option is in the last where you exit or save your setting.
and then it will go to the windows but when you restart it same thing came do the same again it will go to windows again.
i know it is still trouble but it works.....
enjoy if it works on you system.
