I just bought a new Compaq Presario V6500Z (with Geforce Go 7150) which came with Windows Vista. Deciding that I wanted XP on it instead, I proceeded to install XP. After installation I was able to install all of my drivers successfully except for the video card driver.
Here is the problem: I tried both the regular ForceWare drivers and the Go ForceWare (when asked was videocard I had for the Go ForceWare the 7150 was not listed). Upon installation both of these told me that it could not find the correct driver for my video card.
The really phenomenal thing, however, is that in the device manager nothing shows up under display adapters, instead, under "Other Devices" there is a listing with a yellow question mark that says "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)".
This problem has confounded me (someone who is quite proficient with computers) for 6 hours today. HP's tech support was useless, of course.
Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Well a little while later I found out that the correct drivers could not be downloaded from nVidia's website and HP did not have them either, so I found the correct driver in the shadier parts of the web. Thanks anyway.

I've tried a number of different drivers off the web, but they're either incompatible, or give me a blue screen. Can you post the link to where you found one that worked?

Hi guys, I was having trouble trying to get my laptop (v6500/v6000) to accept a non compaq XP driver til i found this on a forum somewhere.
I'm not sure how it works but it does
